Term 3 Newsletter 2

Dear Parents

Thank you for returning the photo books and unique progress sheets.   Our parent consultations are well under way and will be continuing for the next few weeks.   If you have not put your name down, please speak to your key person to find a suitable time.

Please remember to bring in a pair of wellies for your child.  We go outside every day and our garden is very muddy!

We have introduced a Show and Tell basket for the children to put their toys.   It will be kept by the register for the ‘show and tell’ children.   The children are now aware they must not play with the toys in the basket.   So please encourage your children to use our basket, without fear of toy breakage etc

If children want to bring a toy in, but do not feel ready to ‘show and tell’, I would be more than happy to hold up the toy and read something out you have written.  Let me know.

A reminder of the ‘show and tell’ system!   Please write your child’s ‘show and tell’ day up on your calendar:

If your child’s first name starts with A,B,C,or D, their show and tell is Monday every week
If your child’s first name starts with E, F,or G, their show and tell is Tuesday every week
If your child’s first name starts with H,I,J,K or L, their show and tell is Wednesday every week
If your child’s first name starts with M or N, their show and tell is Thursday every week
If your child’s first name starts with O through to Z, their show and tell is Friday every week

If your child does not attend the setting on one of the designated show and tell days above, please could they show and tell on a Thursday or Friday.

Please note, there is no pressure on you or your child to partake in ‘show and tell’ every week or even at all.   If you have any concerns or questions, please ask Tracy.

Planning:
The individual children’s plans are updated every two weeks, if there is any area of development you would like your key person to focus on, please let them know.

Remember to speak to your key person or the SENCO if you are concerned about any area of your child’s development.

Access to Preschool

For many years, we have had problems with accessing preschool via the slope.
There are a number of different ways to access preschool.

Via the top gate near the Adult Education Centre.  This is accessible for morning and afternoon drop off and pick up.

Via the main school entrance.   Accessible all day.

Via the side gate, on Bradbourne Road.   Accessible for morning drop off and afternoon pick up only.

Accessing preschool via the main school entrance suggests you would come into preschool via the muddy 'slope'.   The school have made it clear that this is not a path but a drain and pipe cover.   That is why it has not been and will not be 'improved'.
If you are walking, you can come up the steps and avoid the slope all together.   If you have a buggy, the advice we have been given is to access the top gate where there are no steps to hinder access.
Also, the path, next to Acorns Nursery, is flooded throughout the wet months.   We have had some drainage problems which, over the coming months, will be addressed.

Please could you access the garden via the other gate, next to the Studio.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
