Ofsted

Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) inspect schools at least once every three years, usually giving about two days' notice.

Schools are required to notify parents of the inspection and parents can ask to speak to the inspectors if they wish.

Inspectors look at the school's self-evaluation, consider the school's performance results, and examine the previous inspection report. In school, they will sit in on lessons and examine the way lessons are planned, among other things.

At the end of the inspection they report on the school's overall effectiveness, achievements and standards. This includes:

  • Teaching and learning (delivering the curriculum and other activities, care, guidance and support)Leadership and support
  • The extent to which it enables learners to be healthy
  • The extent to which it ensures that learners stay safeh
  • How well learners enjoy their education
  • The extent to which learners make a positive contribution to the school
  • How well learners develop workplace and other skills that will contribute to their future economic well-being

A report is issued within two weeks. The governing body must send a copy of the report to all parents and carers of pupils at the school within five working days of receiving it, please click here to view ours. It must also make a printed copy of the report available upon request to members of the public. A charge, not exceeding the cost of reproduction, can be made for copies of the report. Please ask at school reception if you would like a printed copy.
