Gifted and Talented
Traditionally, Gifted and Talented is a term that refers to children achieving significantly above the level of their cohort, whether academically or through the creative arts, or sports.
At Sevenoaks Primary we seek to support the children who lie within this category but also acknowledge that all children will have unique gifts and talents, many of which may not yet be discovered. We seek to be inclusive in our provision of enrichment activities within the classroom and in the information we offer to parents regarding opportunities beyond it.
http://www.potentialplusuk.org/ is a useful website providing information to families of children with ‘Higher Learning Potential’.
PotentialPlus also provide local enrichment events open to members and non-members. One SPS parent tells us…
"We've been to a number of Potential Plus events, both locally and nationally and our children simply love them. The activities draw on a number of skills and they have great fun doing them - we've tried felting, science workshops, art classes, fast maths and light painting to name a few. The children have made new friendships, and we've found other parents who understand what it means to parent a child that is constantly asking questions. They are great events for all inquiring minds."
Summer School
Each year a small group of Year 5 pupils are invited to take place in a Summer School at Sevenoaks Primary. In these reports, Ben and Abby share their experiences.
