Group Stage

In the first game we faced St Katherine’s and beat them 2-0 with Daniel and Axel getting the goals. Daniel hit his shot into the top left corner of the net and Axel finished from a cool cross from James. A great start!
Next we played Chevening. We played really well and with fast football beat them 5-0. The first goal came from James who crossed it in from a corner and hit the opponent’s chest and into his own net. It was a fortunate goal for us but we deserved it. We were 1-0 up. Then Daniel scored two headers and a shot past the keeper 4-0! After that George scored after some brilliant play between him and James.
Our final group game was against Anthony Roper this was going to be our toughest game of the tournament. If we won this game we would have won our group with maximum points. We did 2-0! Daniel, once again, getting the goals with one header and one being smashed into the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance. We were into the quarter-finals!

Quarter Final
For the quarter final we were against the second placed team from the 2nd team’s group, Sundridge & Brasted. Axel scored first with a shot past the keeper who couldn’t react fast enough to save the shot. James then quickly scored two goals to extend our lead to 3-0. Sundridge then scored but soon after the final whistle blew and we were through to the semis.
In the semi-final we faced Churchill. Sevenoaks played really well and fought well until end. Axel scored two goals but had many more chances. Axel’s first went into the corner and his second was very similar, finishing the ball when he was one-on-one with the keeper. We were through to the Final!
In the final we faced Anthony Roper again. It was a lot harder for us this time with their defence playing on top form, making good tackles until at last we broke the deadlock with James scoring a screamer past the keeper 1-0! Soon after Max made a fantastic save after the ball slipped through his hands because of the muddy and wet conditions, then somehow he reached back with his arm and grabbed it to stop it going past the goal line. The Anthony Roper fans screamed for goal-line technology but the ref ‘s decision stood. We won the game 1-0!
