Dear Parents/Carers,
The 11th November 2018 marks the 100 year anniversary of the First World War. It is an exceptional centenary year and an opportunity to remember and say ‘Thank you’ to all who served, and to those who sacrificed their lives to change our world.
In the new building, we have a very special plaque, which has taken pride of place in the entrance hall. When I arrived at Sevenoaks Primary School, it was hidden away in the boiler room. The plaque was originally displayed in Bayham Road Council School and honours the memory of the old boys of the school who sacrificed their lives in the Great War.
The majority of the men were teenagers and had enlisted together. A number are related to existing members of staff or families connected with the school.
It is important that they, and others who have sacrificed their lives to make the world a safer place, are remembered.
Class 5B have produced a display to mark the 100 years and have made 100 different poppies in recognition of the centenary. We have included a photograph of the display below.
Outdoor Shoes – Phase 2 & 3
We have fantastic grounds and we are keen for the children to continue to use them throughout the winter months. To do so, they require a pair of outdoor shoes (not their PE shoes) or wellies. We have installed shelving under the canopy to store them and are looking at adding further storage in the near future.
Please could you supply your child with the appropriate footwear and encourage them to wear them. This will limit the amount of mud coming into school and should also extend the life of their school shoes! Many thanks.
Parent Consultations
Apologies for the late communication of the parent consultations for Years 1-5. We have had minor technical issues with the software but hopefully, all has been resolved.
Please do sign up via: https://sevenoaksprimary.parentseveningsystem.co.uk/. Your child’s education is very much a partnership and it is important the teachers are able to keep you up to date with your child’s development and general progress and you feel fully involved and informed.
I will be available throughout the week if there are any general issues that you wish to discuss.

Harvest Festival at Sevenoaks Primary
Following our Harvest Festival in October, we received the following ‘thank you’ from Sevenoaks Food Bank:
‘Thank you to all the pupils, parents, carers and staff of Sevenoaks Primary School for the generous donation to our food bank from your recent Harvest Festival collection.
We continue to support local families in the Sevenoaks area who are struggling to make ends meet and rely on the ongoing generosity of our regular donors throughout the year to maintain our supplies.
With sincere thanks and appreciation.
Sevenoaks Food Bank’
THANK YOU, EVERYONE!

World Scout Jamboree Fundraising: Friday, 16th November
We're a group of 9 young people from the Sevenoaks District who have been selected to participate in the World Scout Jamboree in July 2019, in West Virginia, USA. Overall, we need to raise £4,000 each. This includes a premium to enable Scouts from poorer countries to participate. An important legacy of the Jamboree will be helping to promote world co-operation and peace. It will be the trip of a lifetime.
With this in mind, we've organised a special showing of JK Rowling's new film that we're really excited about and would love you to share it with your school - details below:
