2. Archive Newsletter 12.05.17
This fortnight’s newsletter will be brief, following the third issue of our New Build Newsletter sent out this week. I hope you found it a good read, and gave you an idea of the building’s progress, as well as our incredible fundraising efforts!
“Our aim is to make Sevenoaks Primary School safe, happy and welcoming to everyone” – Sevenoaks Primary security motto.
We do recognise that in order to achieve this goal, it does require the patience and understanding of all concerned – good security can be frustrating!
Please may I remind you all that, should you wish to speak to a teacher, to contact the school office for an appointment.
If you need to enter any of the school buildings for any reason, it is imperative that you first sign in at the main reception. All visitors should wear a lanyard for the duration of their visit to the school. Upon leaving the building, please remember to sign out and leave your lanyard.
I appreciate that these might seem obvious instructions, but it is for the security of all children and staff.
This is a temporary arrangement, which will come to an end when the current building work ends. It was agreed on the understanding that:
· This is to allow you to drop off children only. The car park will not be available for collection at the end of the school day
· Please vacate the car park as safely and as soon as possible to ensure that other parents can make use of this arrangement. All cars must be removed by 9:00am.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

The theme for the baking was a celebration, and all the finalists created some truly spectacular cakes. Although Grace was not the eventual winner, we are sure you will agree that her cake looks utterly delicious, and we congratulate her on reaching so far! Well done, Grace, and maybe we will see you in the future with Mary Berry!

Love singing? Numama Sevenoaks is a daytime community choir, run on Wednesday mornings in central Sevenoaks. A number of our parents are already participants! There is a mother & baby choir at 9:45am and a ladies only session at 11:00am.
A wide range of music is sung, and you don’t need any experience or to be able to read music. You don’t even have to be a particularly great singer! What you do need is a sense of fun, enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. Strictly no auditions!!
Sporting achievement – Taekwondo
We are thrilled to announce that Fleur in 6A is now the proud owner of a first degree black belt in Taekwondo! After many hours of study and gruelling 8 hour long grading, she can now claim to be one of the younger members of Fortitude Academy to achieve black belt.
In order to pass the grading, Fleur had to demonstrate all 9 colour belt patterns, sit a theory paper on technique and terminology. On the practical side, she also needed to show self-defence moves, spar with two others, and to finish, break two wooden boards with her hand and foot.

Trips and payments
At this time of the year there are a number of school trips taking place, and parents/carers are asked to return slips or pay online in good time. Unfortunately, a great number need to be chased up in order for all children to participate.
If you have any problems making a payment or completing any slip, do drop by the main reception for help.
Our preferred method of payment for trips is via our online payment system. Paper permission slips DO NOT need to be returned if you use this method.
Whilst we do accept cash (exact amounts) and cheques from a small number of contacts, we would encourage everyone to give the system a go!
