News Team interrogate New Build Project Manager Wayne Catterall
On the 11th of October the News Team and the School Council got to go onto the new school building site.
News Team interviewed the builder Wayne and asked a few questions on what the new school build might look like and about the company Bower and Kirkland. Here’s the answer to a few of the questions:
How many buildings have you built?
Wayne: 50 maybe more
Why do you do this job?
Wayne: Because I like building things
How tall will the new school be?
Wayne: 10 meters at it's tallest point
What will the school be made out of?
Wayne: Timber frame construction with pre-created structural panels
What can we see on the ground at the moment?
Wayne: Shuttering, sand, gas membrane, insulation and metal reinforcement. You can see them putting up the shuttering to contain the concrete that we will be pouring for the foundations.
When are the foundations being poured?
Wayne: 24th & 26th October
How much concrete will they need?
Wayne: 360 Cubic meters of concrete
How much will it cost to build the school?
Wayne: £7 million +
How long will it take you to finish the build?
Wayne: By the summer holidays next year
What happens if you are not finished in time?
Wayne: I’ll get told off by Mr Duffy
How many people do you have working on our new school site building?
Wayne: 14 builders did the ground works, 5 at the moment, there will be up to 50 later on.
