Parent Handbook

Unless you have ever worked in a school, it can be difficult to appreciate the immense amount of operational work, systems and processes that take place every single day. At Sevenoaks Primary School, we take great pride in how effectively we manage these, and in the strong partnership we maintain with our fantastic parent community.

Research consistently shows that when parents and schools work positively together, children thrive. Our staff are experts in how schools operate and in the strategies that support children’s success, particularly within such a busy and multifaceted environment. We also value the insights that parents bring, and we regularly receive excellent suggestions during our Parent Council meetings.

Over recent years, we have noticed that many of our newer parents are understandably unfamiliar with the day‑to‑day routines of school life. Questions often arise—from how teaching assistants support learning, to what information appears on first‑aid slips, to general processes that are second nature to school staff but less obvious to families.

Following extensive discussion with staff and parents, we agreed that a clear, accessible Parent Handbook would be a valuable resource for anyone who is unsure or curious about how things work in school. Our wonderful Parent Council helped identify the key topics that parents often ask about or sometimes hold misconceptions around.

The result is our very own Sevenoaks Primary School Parent Handbook created to inform, support, and strengthen the partnership between home and school.
