SPS Tennis News

Kent Tennis in association with Kent School Games hosted the Annual Doubles Championships in early June. The event started with qualifying rounds held at Bromley and Canterbury at which many pairs competed from schools from across the county. Following that the top 8 qualifying pairs were invited back to the finals from which the best Schools Doubles Pairs in Kent would be found.
SPS entered 8 Boys and 3 Girls pairs into the initial qualifying event. It is always a very busy day and securing a place in the final is a challenge, however after some wonderful tennis from the SPS squad 3 pairs made it through to the finals.
The players did tremendously well at the subsequent finals competition - our Green Boys came 5th, Orange Girls 3rd and the Red Boys won in a breath taking final against The New Beacon.
It has been a wonderful year of tennis filled with many great moments. Thanks go to all the children for their efforts, their parents and careers for transportations and assistance at the various events and to Helen Jackson and team (West Heath Tennis Club) for their continued support and provision of tennis at SPS.
